RHS – rectangular hollow sections

RHS has inherently flat surfaces that make it more economical when it comes to joining and fabrication. also, rhs is functional with clean lines and is used for construction and architectural applications.

RHS is manufactured in a wide range of dimensions and thicknesses, as well as combinations of both. available thicknesses across the board are 1.6 mm, 2 mm, 2.5 mm, 3 mm, 3.5 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 12.5 mm, and 16 mm. dimensions range from 50 mm x 20 mm to 400 mm to 300 mm.

SHS – square hollow sections

SHS steel tubing has similar uses to rhs and is used for both industrial and construction applications. square section rhs is available in the same thicknesses as rhs and dimensions range from 20 mm x 20 mm to 400 mm x 400 mm.

RHS - rectangular hollow sections: for economy and strength
Rectangular hollow sections (RHS) are a popular choice for mechanical, structural and building applications. this is due to the flat surface, which provides a structural solution that is more economical for joining and various other types of fabrication.
Due to the rectangular shape of this type of hollow section, the sections only need to be straight cut when joining to other flat surfaces. RHS requires minimal edge preparation for welding or joining.
RHS can also be used for architectural aesthetics, providing clean lines as well as structural strength.

SHS - square hollow sections: for symmetry, balance, strength and aesthetics
Square hollow sections (SHS) are another popular type of structural steel tube that's something of a cross between RHS and chs in terms of properties, appearance and structural behaviour. SHS has a flat surface that's also economical to join and weld, with clean lines and minimal edge preparation required. SHS also has attributes of chs, with its symmetrical appearance formed in equal-sided square hollow sections - as opposed to circular sections. SHS offers an ideal balance of strength, functionality and aesthetics for a wide range of applications where all three are required.
